How it works
- Choose your images (JPG, PNG or WebP).
- Pick a quality; optionally set the output format and a maximum edge length.
- Click “Compress”. Each file shows its size before and after.
Notes and limitations
- The biggest saving usually comes from fewer pixels: shrinking a 12-megapixel photo to 1920 px often saves over 80%.
- PNG kept as PNG is re-saved losslessly and rarely gets smaller. For a real saving on photos, choose JPG or WebP as the output.
- If a file does not get smaller, you get the original back unchanged – with a note saying so.
- Metadata such as GPS location is removed.
Frequently asked questions
How far can I go before it shows?
For photos, 70–80% quality is hard to tell apart from the original on screen. Below 50% blocky artefacts appear.
Why did my image get bigger?
If the original was already heavily compressed, saving again can produce a larger file. The tool keeps the original in that case.
