Compress PDF
Tries to make a PDF smaller, for email or upload forms. Whether that works depends heavily on how the file was created.
Processed locally: your files are handled entirely in this browser and are never uploaded to a server.

How it works
- Choose a PDF file.
- Pick a mode: “Lossless” keeps everything, “Strong” renders each page as an image.
- Click “Compress”. You will see the old and new size.
Notes and limitations
- No guarantee: PDFs that are already well compressed often cannot be made smaller. The tool says so openly instead of offering a larger file.
- “Lossless” reorganises the internal structure. It usually saves only a few percent but changes no content.
- “Strong” turns each page into a JPG image. That saves a lot on scans and image-heavy PDFs, but text can no longer be selected or searched and links and forms are lost.
- A browser cannot selectively recompress images inside a PDF without rendering the page. Professional desktop software can do more here.
Frequently asked questions
Which mode should I use?
For text documents, try “Lossless” first. For scans or photo PDFs, use “Strong” with medium resolution – and check the result before deleting the original.
