How it works

  1. Enter the loan amount and the nominal annual interest rate.
  2. Choose whether you know the term or the monthly payment, and enter it.
  3. Click “Calculate” – monthly payment, term, total interest and a repayment schedule appear.

Notes and limitations

  • Calculated as an annuity loan with constant monthly payments; interest = nominal rate ÷ 12 on the remaining balance. The last payment is usually smaller.
  • The nominal interest rate does not include fees. The effective annual rate in a loan offer may therefore be higher.
  • This calculation is for information only and is not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between nominal and effective interest rate?

The nominal rate is the pure interest rate. The effective rate also includes compounding during the year and certain costs, and is the better value for comparing offers.
